please help!!!!!
i have a 2005 f150 crewcab. i have trying to find the right wheels and tires. if i only do a 2 1/2 in leveling kit. what is the max tire i can do? what if i put a 3 in body lift? ive heard to go with 33" and some say 35"s will fit some say they wont. and 34"s are hard to find. i want to do toyo open country mt and 20" rockstars. just dont know what size tire and lift to go with. i was thinking ab doing a 4 or 6 in suspension lift but heard that it causes wear on tie rods and will have to change cv joints a lot. open to all opinions and any help would be greatly appreciated. any pics of similar lifts would be very helpful. thank you.
Do you have a 4x4 or 4x2? Assuming you have a 4x4, here are some general guidelines. First, don't install a leveling kit over 2.5 inches. The 3 inch kits are what creates severe CV and balljoint angles that cause premature wear and tear, not the full 4 and 6 inch suspension lifts. With a leveling kit, you can fit a 35x12.50 tire with minor rubbing if you use the OEM wheels, or one with virtually identical specs. If you use a wider aftermarket wheel with less backspacing, stick with a 33 inch tire. If you combine a leveling kit and a 3 inch body lift you can fit 35's on just about any aftermarket wheel. The same holds true for any 4 to 6 inch suspension lift.
do you know what the backspacing and width have to be for the rockstar 20 inch on a 35 in toyo open country mt? or anywhere to find a 285 or 295 with rockstars as i havent seen many. thanks for the info!!!
I believe the Rockstar is available in 8.5 inches wide with 5.7 inches of BS. THat would be your best bet if you want to try and squeeze 35's on your truck with only a leveling kit. I'd also suggest that you go with one of the narrower (285 or 295mm) width 35's.
