01 4x4 stock height 18 or 20" HELP!!

Im buying my brothers truck and its an 01 4x4 Lariat Supercrew. Its White with gray on the bottom with 67K miles, fiberglass bed cover, Westin Stainless Nerf bars & Bull bar, Billet grille, Flowmaster exhaust, K&N Intake, Air Raid throttle body spacer, Flowmaster, and Edge programmer. So my first step I want to do it put 18 or 20" XD rims and was wonder what tire size would work on a truck with stock height or if need be I would get a leveling kit. Also do these mods affect fuel economy by much. Thanks

I cant speak for tire size and what requires a leveling kit on that year truck. However, increasing tire size will increase weight and rolling resistance which will hurt fuel economy. I went with a 295/70/18 from stock and I lost between 1mpg and 2mpg.

i say leveling kit 33s and 18s. mine stock has 18s and 35s they clear fine, just trimmed the valence a little, but gas mileage sucks with 35s. you could clear 35s but gas mileage would be worse

2wd or 4wd? 4wd you can crank the torosion bars. 2wd you need a spindle lift. then you can put 33s on there. and 18s would look good. but if you want 20s+ and its 2wd lower the rear.

You don't need a leveling kit because your front ride height is adjustable via the amount of preload on the torsion bars. I'd suggest a 10 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing and a 33x12.50 tire. You will have to trim a little plastic off the front bumper's lower valance.

Yeah but the op has stainless steps, a stainless bull bar, and a billet grille and more than likely chrome bumpers. I think the black wheels will clash to much and look out of place.

You can fit 33x12.5" tires easily without cranking the torsion bars. I have 18x10's -27 offset wheels. Some minor rubbing at full lock.

for all around use a 33 would be your best bet. In my opinion a 17 would look better, of course I like teh old school big tire look.

I would run the 20's on the truck. I just like the look of the 20's. Going to a larger tire overall will decrease the fuel economy on the truck and the 20" wheel will add weight as well. Not a huge difference.

I've got a white Screw with stainless steps and chrome bumpers and 295/70/18s mounted on black 18x9 XD Monsters. Check out my profile for pictures. I would post pics here but I can't from my phone.

Edit to add pics:
