looking for light 35's

Here is the skinny!
used to have a leveling kit with mickey tompson mtz 285/75/17
now have a bds lift kit 6" with the same tires

Im wearing out the mickey's and am getting pretty close to them being out of life so Im looking to move up to 35's to fill the wheel well abit more...

problem im having is that the diffrence between my winter tires (stock) and the 33's is so so so noticable and with going to 35's I can only imagine it is going to get worse(and a regear is basicly out of the options as gears and bearings and always running higher rpms is not my cup of tea) im hoping to make it a little less worse...

IM LOOKING FOR LIGHT 35's... my truck is an appsolute road queen so tire design basicly is nul and void to a point... The tires I have now are a little too wide and on the same note I would like to get away from the side bitters as they are not needed and cause just that more spray and dirt up onto the side of the truck

THANKS FOR THE HELP IN ADVANCE AS I CAN IMAGINE THIS WILL HELP MORE THAN JUST MYSELF

I would look at tires you like the look of, and then go to the respective web-sites and look at the specs. If I remember correctly (from when I was doing my 35 research) BFG KM2s are 68lbs. each and my Nitto Trail Graps at 81 each. OUCH. I know

if a 285 is too wide then you might as well stay with small tires. moving to a 35 doesnt sound like its for you

ill be d a m n e d! this is a dream of mine and im gona fulfill it one way or another even if wider is what is nessisary... Ive looked for a weight for the mickeys befor and could not come up with it but after the weights that f150 man threw out there I started to look again and finally came up with the answer at 57 pounds... never would have thought but at 57 pounds and the tires that im looking at at 64 I really dont think its gona make that big a diffrence...

my question to you now is what can be done other than a regear when I look at a regear im basicly looking at about 900 to 1200 bucks for just the gears then add to that new spider gears and bearings because that would be stupid not to do I would think add to that new rear end grease and anti slip additive and thats with me doing it myself!....thats getting into the pocket book pretty heavy imo if that is what im looking at then so be it I guess my other option is a transmission change or alteration (which I dont know how to do)

Would a chip help me in this situation? and if so at price of maybe 250 or so would it be worth it because I know that it isnt going to reverse the problem or fix it correctly

thanks

A tuner doesn't put a dent in the power loss you get from 35's imo

Well I will have to disagree with you on that offroadin. My truck was a dog..I mean bad, when I mounted my 35x12.50s on my 5.4 with 3.73s. I got a Gryphon with some custom tunes, and OH MY! It is such a difference. I return to stock from time to time to take it to the dealership for service and what not. Its those times that I get reminded, just how much the Gryphon does. I would NOT want to be running my 35's without my Gryphon.

x2....also keep in mind the weight of the tire is not the only thing that causes loss. Its all about ratios throughout the drivetrane, when you go with a taller tire it changes the ratios, requires additional torque to get going.

Thats because its changing the shift pattern of the trans.

OP you need to pick a tire size your gonna be happy with then decide what you need to do. basically you can get a custom tune that can hold you over until you do gears but in the end it will be gears or new tranny if you dont regear and just run a tune for long enough

most 35's are going to be 12.50 wide.

you can get gears and bearing for around 660 shipped through diffsonly.com give wayne a call and he will set you up.
