Tire Dilema- Advice Wanted

Ok Boys & Girls, I've kinda hit a dilemma with my Tire Selection. I really want the Trail Grapplers. That is what I've been set on for a while. But I'm having a hard time justifying $1000+ in tires, for a truck that will see pavement more than dirt. I haven't been working for the lake management company as much as I did last year. I needed M/Ts there for sure I had slippage issues all the time with my "rugged" trail BFG.

So my question to y'all is what is another good tire that would be a little more reasonable price but still semi-aggressive looking. Most A/T tires I see look like street tires to me. I am putting on KMC Monster 18x5 wheels too. So I want something that looks good too. But DAMN, tires are expensive! I am a college student paying everything execpt college(thank GOD) I don't wanna break the bank but one good tires at the same time. I don't wanna skip out on something as important to safety as they are.

Help a brotha out, y'all got any suggestions for me? I am on a second set of tires right now that my buddy gave me a while back that I put on the truck Monday. But they are only at about 30% tread (Same tires as before)

Thanks

Oh yeah I want them in a 33" or somewhere in that ball park. I was looking at the 295/70/18s

No thanks, I don't trust Retreads. I know they have reviews and have proven themselves blah blah blah. I just don't wanna mess with them. Thanks for the response though

No worries man. For aggressive, cheap tires, I think they are the best. The next step up is MTs made in Korea or China, I'm not sure how much I'd trust them over American-made retreads LOL.

Search RimzOne's Ebay site. They may have a combo deal that you can afford. I got mine wheels from there for about $1750 shipped.

I got a buddy that I'm buying his old KMC Monsters in 18x5, I found some KMC Addicts wrapped in Trail Grapplers for $1760 shipped, but that is still more than what I'll pay if I get the wheels and tires seperate, since I'm buyin the wheels from a friend.

Hey John, good to see you around here more. You talking about some BFG A/Ts ? I like the look of them a lot just don't like how they cake up in mud. Aren't they pretty pricey too though?

Your stuck with the Nittos if you want 295/70/18s. When I was looking I was kind of in the same boat your in, I have a lifted Jeep Wrangler that is dedicated to offroad so my truck is just my driver/firewood getting vehicle. But the Nittos were the cheapest tires I could find in the 34 to 35 inche range. My father also has the Fierce tires on his superduty and so far I am pretty impressed with them but he has only had them for about a month now.
So I'd say go with the Trails because I love mine, hardly any weight to balance them and they ride good and aren't to noisey for a MT.

look into the Goodyear Duratracs...all terrain with Mud terrain looks. After having our first snow here in washington I will be replacing my Toyo Mt's with them one the Toyos run down. Handling was fine until you try and turn with the wide toyo's on packed snow...it was a no go for me.

The duratracs should fit into what you are looking for. Treadepot.com or rimzoneonline.com should be able to help you out.

How about the Cooper Zeon LTZ. Great looking tire, not boring at all. I've read alot of great reviews on this tire. Wet road, to snow, and even off road traction are supposed to be real good. I'm not speaking from experience, cause I just got my set mounted about 4 hours ago. Pictures don't do them any justice. They are aggressive looking. At 275/70/18, they fill the wheel wells pretty nicely.
And you are right, tires aren't cheap, and they're NOT getting any cheaper. Good luck.....

Take a look at the Cooper ST, not the STT mud terrain. The ST is more of an A/T and M/T hybrid. 275/70/18 will keep you at a 33" http://www.treadepot.com/tire/73484.html

I am really liking the look of the duratracs, but damn if they aren't close to $1000 after shipping

I need to hit the lotto, I saw some cooper ST tires in person the other day they looked pretty good

firestone destination MT..look at pro comp tires, my boss has the xtreme AT and they look awesome! im not sure on the price since he got 35/12.5/20 but they are good in mud and quiet on pavement. i think my next tire will be the pro comp new mud tire. looks pretty good

the AT KO BFG's arent all they cracked up to be, yea they last forever but suck in the mud got an AT and they are expensive.

also look at kumho AT or hankook AT
