***help*** wheel&tire questions??? Fitment???

I just bought a 2010 Blue Flame F150 4X4 XLT SuperCrew w/ a 6.5' Bed...

STOCK: P275/65R18 GoodYear Wrangeler SR-A's.... (CHROME PACKAGE)

275/65R18
Load Index 114 = 2640lbs (1200kg) per tire
Speed Rating “T” = 118mph (190kph) 114T SL
Treadwear: 500
Traction: A
Temperature: B500 A B
2601 lbs.
44 psi
13/32"
39lbs.
7.5-9.5"
8"
11"
8.2"
32.1"

I am looking to change the wheels to American Eagle either #079 / or #197's... I am most likely going with the #197's but feel free to give me your opinions or POST some PICS of each or any other HOT but not too expensive wheels....

Here are the Questions???

I can get either 17" or 18".... both 9" Wide

17" seems to be the "preferred" size?? and seems to have more tire sizes available that will work?

Both wheels are gonna be 4.5" Backspacing with -11 offset.....

so what are the BIGGEST tires I can put on the truck with these wheels??

Keeping in mind that..

1) I have no problems trimming that little plastic on the bottom front fender lip....

2) Will eventually probably "Level" the truck 2" or 2.5"

3) DO NOT want to Drastically or kill my Gas Mileage

4) Have 3.55 Gears....

5) want the tires to have a nice meaty agressive stance, without going "really" far outside the fenders, have stock fenders on it now....

any other questions, please just ask???

I was thinking of going with the Nitto's....

Deciding between the "Terra-Graplers" and the "Trail Grappler M/t's"...

Love the agressive look of the Trail Grapplers M/T's, but not sure about the all season capability? it will be a daily driver in Jersey... Road noise? Mileage/treadlife? and gas mileage? any feedback!?!? any other alternatives that you know of....

NOW the "SIZES"....

I was thinking of putting on one of the following....

I am looking for something a little bigger than a 33" but think a 35" will not work... I have a friend that has 325/65R18's and he definitely RUBS...

295/70R17 (OD:33.19)(Width: 12.13)
285/75R17 (OD:33.86)(Width: 11.30)
305/70R17 (OD:33.98)(Width: 12.36) -- Will the 305 Work???

18"
275/70R18 (OD: 33.27)(Width: 10.94)
295/70R18 (OD: 34.41)(Width: 11.77)

I measured inside the wheels wheels and have a least 2+" of clearance before cutting, and I know that only have a size difference "matters" since half will be below and half above the axle...

but dont know "where" the wheels with be sitting with this BackSpacing and Offset??? thats the HARD part...

Need some EXPERT opinions!!!

Thanks Guys!!!

A 9 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing will stick out 2.5 inches farther than your OEM wheels. Personally, I'd go with a 33 inch tire like a 305/65-17 or 305/60-18 (33x12.50).

GOOD CALL! and thanks for the response...

I actually ordered the **** Cepek DC-2's... and as predicted the wheels stick outside the wheel wheel EXACTLY 2" (took a level and measuring tape and test fit a wheel)

I am trying to figure out how far the tire is going to stick outside the fender after mounting now before I mount the tires??? obviously more than the 2" already... Bought LT295/70R17 Nitto Terra Grapplers...

is this pretty "Common" or average??? I was hoping to be no more than 2" at most outside of the fender.. but dont see many good looking wheels with the proper offsets and backspacing to accomodate.... I think a little bit of an agressive "stance" with tires slightly outside the wheelwell looks mean and aggressive, just dont want to kill the truck or go OVERBOARD....

thinking I may have to add some "Fender Flares" to the truck to reduce some of this...

I am pretty sure it is against the law in most states as well...

A 9 inch wide wheel with 5 inches of BS is pretty common and they would only stick out 2 inches farther than your OEM wheels.

It sounds like you have the same dilemma as myself. I just have not decided on the exact wheel yet. Post some pics and let me know how it turns out once you decide which way to go and get it all together. Good luck!

I know you said you already bought the terras but I have the trail grapplers(35x12.5x17) and they are awesome, very quiet, amazing traction, and look badass. I have 4.5bs on my wheels so they stick out a lot
