New Brakes

Thanks to the many threads on here and the recommendations that accompanied them, I am doing an all around replacement with Wagner Thermoquiets on my truck with it's 28K miles. I just started noticing the telltale sign of shaking upon braking. Hopefully my rotors and calipers aren't shot as well.

Update: Front left rotor has a groove. Front right rotor is wavy feeling. Hopefully I can get them turned because I don't really want to to order new rotors right now. If I would have to order do you guys recommend ordering just the fronts or springing for all 4?

My brother just did all new rotors and pads on his 2004 fx4 and bought everything from advanced auto for less than $300.

Just do what needs to be done. I the backs are turn-able, then turn them. You don't need to "replace" the backs just cause you put brand new ones on the front.

Needed brakes at 28k miles...that sucks.

Tell me about it. Need new tires too. My fault. I don't drive it all that much because I have a little gas saver that I drive for work. My wife drives it more than I do. Of course she never mentions anything about it, lol. After I noticed the shaking on braking I asked her to take it and get the brakes. Asked her if she noticed the shaking. "Nope."

Think I will forgo the attempted turning of the fronts because I don't have the time to take them off and take them to get turned. Would have to take them off one evening after work. Leave the truck up on jack stands overnight and put them back on the next day. Would have to take it in and with today's labor rates I am looking at $150 for two turned rotors and the brakes put on. I can get two new Wagners for $200 from Rock Auto.

www.Advanceautoparts.com has a big online sale. I picked up new rotors and TQ pads for my STX around 10 days ago and received 20% off if I purchased online and picked them up at the store.

Thanks but I bought some new Motorcrafts yesterday for the fronts. Then I will take the stockers to get turned, providing they can be turned, and keep them as spares.
