ABS Quandary....

OK.....just returned from the Ford dealer. I have a 2001 Lariat F-150 4x4 with approx. 168k miles and recently have experienced the ABS light after driving for about 5 minutes. It stays on until I turn the engine off and, without fail, does this again. This has been going on for about two months now. I have had new brakes front and rear within the last 8 months. The dealer pulled the codes and said they were C1185 & C1198. He said it is the ABS ECU and that is approx. $1,000 installed. This is my quandary.....after reading a lot of the ABS threads in this forum.....it appears that the light can come on for a number of reasons including sensors, low fluid, plug came loose, short, etc. Is there any possibility that these codes may originate from something other than the ECU? Thanks for any and all comments.....

not sure... but I'd get a second opinion before I drop a grand on it.

... or pick up a used part off a junkyard truck? A truck with rear end damage will likely have a good ABS module.

Good Point mk.......will call the junkyards Monday.....don't want to put up a grand for a bad sensor.....the way I figure it.....even with the sensor bad.....my brakes are as good or better than my 1969 F-100 I drove many years ago.....
