Brake and rotor recommendations?
Brake and rotor recommendations?
Its time for new brake pads on 06' 5.4L 2 wheel drive XLT SCAB. First time I am going to replace all 4 since I purchased it. I have 35k daily city/highway miles. From readings in other post, I'm pushing towards the Wagner TQ all 4 pads and the Brembo front blank rotors and leaving the back rotors alone.
First, I don't know if I should replace or turn-resurface the front rotors. A couple of times I did get the shaking of the truck when stopping in freeway so I think I might have to change the front Rotors?
Second, should I do ceramic or semi-metallic. I am not to knowledgeable about this as you may have noticed already so any help would be appreciated.
If you think i should replace all rotors, or if their is a better set out there that you guys might recommend, the type of material I should be buying or know of a good on-going deal please let me know.
Looking to spend $250-350.
Thanks

Napa rotors and car quest blue pads. Great pads, low dust, and very quiet. Motorcraft rotors worked really well for me too
I would also consider replacing the rears as well. These trucks eat up rear brakes pretty quickly. Atleast consider replacing the pads.

Be prepared for a larger bill if your front rotors are cracked. I ended up replacing both of mine after noticing them cracked at 38K miles when I bought the truck.
I went with Powerslot slotted rotors and Hawk LTS pads. People love the EBC, Hawk and Wagner TQ on this board though. Pretty much anything is better with dust then the stock pads.
If you are doing your brakes yourself I would go for some higher end rotors. If you are paying for a brake job I think you are pretty on track with what you are thinking. A set of new rotors (brembo) is a good brand and a set of new pads all around. And resurface (turn) the rears with new pads is your best option.
I think costs just for parts on mine were around $550

I went with Autozone rotors and C-Max ceramic pads. Lifetime warranty and work great. No problems with them, and I stop just fine. No dust problems either.
If you want to over pay for "performance" brakes and rotors for a stock application then thats all good too.
