What does everyone use to clean factory FX4 aluminum rims?
As long as the brake dust hasn't been building up for a long time, just use the soap you use for washing your truck. Personally, I'd swap out those OEM pads with some ceramics and forget about the damage brake dust can do. But that's just my preference.

I've been using SG on every kind of wheel and finish you can name and have yet to have any problems with it in 15+ years.
I use Westley's Bleache White to clean my tires, you want to yell at me for using that to Dad?

Simple Green diluted 4:1 in a pump sprayer works great. DON'T use it straight or it will eat your wheels. But, it diluted works killer and a $10 gallon of concentrate lasts a year.
2:1 works great for engines.
I use our Griot's wheel cleaner too with good results.

Im with Wandell on this one. Simple car wash soap works fine. A good polish every couple of months and you should be set. Diluting the Simple Green/Purple Power etc is too much to risk imo. Once you do any damage, its hard to reverse.
BTW, "Blue Magic" wheel polish works great! I did my Welds tonight and the results are more than impressive. PIA though, clay bar[Meguiars] Blue Magic then NTX 2.0 Meguiars wax.

I agree with dish soap, nothing harsh. I've seen bad results when people spray on chemical "mag" cleaner. It's not intended for painted wheels. If you're a real detail nut job like me, when you have the rims off for brakes or something trying cleaning and polishing all of that off set on the backside. Wow is this a dirty job but if you have painted calipers and take the time you will notice the shine. I think you will be amazed by how cool that wide space looks when polished. Start with a box of steel wool and a lot of soap, moving to metal polish when all the junk is gone. You better have plenty of beer cold too.
