I keep getting conflicting answers from local tire & wheel shops on this subject, so I figured I'd ask you guys. They said the brake calipers are bigger on '05 and up and 17's will not fit. My '07 F150 4x4 Lariat currently has 20" wheels. Fabtech recommends a 17x9 wheel for their 6" kits. Will a 17" aftermarket wheel fit my truck? Has anyone actually done this? I just want to have everything ready to bolt up once the lift is installed.

 

yes...i had 17s on my 06 xlt 4x4. the standard stock size for the 04 and up f150 is 17in. my friend has 17s on his 06 fx4 as well.

In some cases it depends upon the wheel. In general, yes, a 17" will fit, but there have been a few that did not. Unfortunately, I do not no the brands and specs of those that did not, but they may have been reported here.
Just an FYI, stock wheels were 17" for the 07, with 18's and 20's as options.

 

In 2005 they had a few problems with aftermarket 17's clearing the brakes but no problems since that I've heard of. I went to 17's from my stock 18's and have had no problems.

 

I have 17" Centerlines with 4.5"BS on my 07 FX4 and they fit fine. Tire shops for the most part don't know squat about these matters.
