stilling shaking
so i went to a very well known tire shop amd got my new tires put on thinking the vibrating would stop. well it did but not in the steering wheel. starting around 50-60 the steering wheel shaking left to right but the truck drives straight. tires are balanced and trucks been realigned. sometimes it's worse than others. i can let go of the steering wheel and rides great. only in the steering column for some reason
Any ideas on what he problem is?

I have come to the conclusion that it has to do with that certain speed. My Ranger on 35s did this at 50-60 MPH and my 05 F150 on 35s does it as well around 50-60 MPH. The Ranger had stick on wheel weights and my F150 has the balancing beads.
I believe there are companies that make steering stabilizers for F150s, this may solve the issue.

I know that it has been said before but check and make sure that the hub centric adapters you have with your wheels are a snug fit to the wheel and to the hub of the truck. I am sure you said that you have these, if not get a set asap.
I had a problem with my truck and the steering wheel nibble when I bought it, it took about 10 trips to the dealer with no fix. Finally I took it to a different dealer and they rebalanced the wheels and cured the problem. I just put a set of 295/70/18 Trail Grapplers on a set of FX4 wheels and I was very worried about the shake like you have but these things took very little to balance and have no shake.
I have also tryed a set of American Eagle wheels on my truck and they shook like no tomarrow, had them to two shops and they still shook. For me it would take a lot of persuading to get me to run anything but stock wheels.

Dang, that could cause some trouble. I hope this fixes your problems, I know how frustrating the shake in the steering wheel can be.

The sure fire cure is to put your stock wheels back on, if you can't put up with the nibble. I went thru 3 diff sets of wheels on my 07 and couldn't get rid of it till I put my stock wheels back on. Hub centric rings, beads, force balancing. Tried it all. It's all in what u want the look or the ride.
Hillbilly4u, I hear what your saying I did the same thing you did. A friend of mine gave me a set of FX4 wheel and it cured my problem. I was scared that putting the 295/70/18 Trail Grapplers on it would bring back the shake, but it is as smooth as glass. I was also absolutely amazed at how little it took to balance them, there is less weight on them now than with the factory tires, that is no lie.
By the way did the tie rod end fix your problems Buckshot?

sadly no. (but the tie rod was worn) i have no idea what the problem is now. i'm getting my old tires and rims mounted and balanced tomorrow to see if the rims are bad. i rotated them and its much better but still shaking some.
Sorry to hear that it didn't solve the problem for you, those Monsters look good. Could you have the Mickeys put on the stock wheels to see if it may also be a tire that is bad? If you could go that route I would have the tire shop spin the bare wheel and see if there is a problem. Heck there is a tire shop here in my town that is notorious for bending wheels, I would even take my mountain bike to them.
I'm having a similar issue with mine. The wheels and tires are less than 2 weeks old and I have a slight shake in the wheel at around 60-70 mph. Not bad, just a slight shake. Like you said the truck goes straight down the road when my hands are off the wheel but there is a slight shake. This also happens to my 08 Legacy GT that I put Konig Lace wheels on. It's been checked numerous times and there is nothing wrong with anything. When I put the stock wheels back on for the winter the shake is gone. It's not something I can't live with so I pretty much gave up and deal with it because I love the looks of the wheels on both of my vehicles.
i rotated the tires last night and somewhat better. today i put the old tires and rims on and drives fine. i took off the mickey thompsons off to find one rim which i moved to the back last night was bent on the inside. the other 3 weren't noticable but trying to find someone that has a road force test around here to check the other 3 before i put them $1400 tires back on and back on the truck.
just got a set of eagle alloy wheels and coopers stts put on yesterday, an i have the exact issue..around 50 it is most noticeable driving straight. if im on a curve or turning slightly its unnoticeable. anyone had any luck with the steering stabalizer curing this? if not i guess ill live with it cuz its not to bad at 65ish and higher..which is where majority of my driving is done if not under 40.
