Anyone know the offset of the stock 16" wheel for an 02 Screw 2wd? I'm looking at some new rims and I want a more aggressive look with more negative offset pushing the tires out. I believe the current wheels are 16x8 w/ 5x135 but not sure of the offset. I'm looking to go with 16x10.

I believe the stock rims were 16x7 with 4.5'' of backspacing on the 2002 i had but that was 4x4.

 

Yeah I think you're right. The 16" wheels are 7" wide with 4.5" of backspacing. So just by going to a 16x10 with 4.5" of backspacing, you'll get an extra 3 inches of "stick out".

 

^^^^ not true on the sticking out. i have 16x10"s and with about 4.5" of bs and they stick out bout an inch in rear and 1.5" up front.

 

My mistake. I didn't mean sticking out from the truck, just meant more than the stock since they're only 7" wide and the same backspacing.

 

All good. i know to keep it similar to stock on clearances on the inside you want the 4.5" of bs but anything wider will give it some stick out or anything less than 4.5" of bs will stick it out but youll run into rubbing issues on the fenders etc

That makes sense. Here's another question, I'm trying to eventually get to a wider tire and a deeper negative offset to show a more retro look. This means show more of the wheel wall (hope that makes sense) than what you see on trucks today. You used to see this look on older hot rods. Instead of going to a 16x10 my thinking is that I should go to 16x8 and decrease the offset to -10 to -15. Shouldn't this have the same effect of moving the tire out as does going to 16x10? I "think" right now that our trucks run either a +2 or -2 offset.

 

Yeah it sounds like I understand what you're trying to do. By changing the offset to what you're looking for, you're effectively saying you want a 16x8 with like a 2.5" backspacing. This would put the outer edge the same as a 16x10 with stock backspacing. I'm not sure what you can find with those dimensions though.
