P vs LT tires
P vs LT tires
Please read and hopefully reply to my other thread on "tire size" that was posted a couple of hours ago before reading the rest on this thread.
So now you know my truck and situation from the other thread. If I go with the Nitto Terra Grappler LT285/65/18 (33"), which I hope to and probably will, this size only comes in a LT. If I go with the recommended tire size for my new wheels (18x9), it is a P.
I have always had P tires on this truck with no problems. I have heard the LT rides a little rougher. Is this true and noticable?
This truck is a daily driver but I only put about 2K-3K on it annually. I use it a couple of times a year, under 10 trips, to haul heavy amounts of trash. The average weight is probably 1,500 lbs -2,000 lbs and I know one time we had 2,900 lbs. These trips are usually short distances. I estimate the total mileage of hauling heavy loads to be well under 100 miles annually.
If you are familiar with tires for my truck, please replay to my other threads. I need to place the wheel/tire order today, but I need to confirm that the Nitto LT285/65/18 is the tire to buy first!! Thanks everyone!!

The LT tires will definitely ride a little rougher then the P rated tires but the other benefits will usually outweigh the ride difference. They handle better due to stiffer sidewalls, better punture resistence, last longer and the most important they look a lot better not to mention they can haul more weight.
