Powder coat rims?

I bought a set of 20in chrome rims off local craigslist cheap. Chrome is pitted and peeling in numerous spots. I bought them with plans of powdercoating them either black or dark shadow gray. My truck is silver with a dsg low line. Has anyone powdercoated their wheels on here, if so what are the pros and cons of powdercoat? Which color do you guys think would look best, black or dark shadow gray?

I've seen gray powder coated rims on a toyota FJ 40 my friend drove. They were newer landcruiser wheels that he had powder coated. I've thought about powdercoating my 20" rims black, but it can be expensive around where I live. I think it depends on what color the truck is. The nice thing about black is that you won't notice the brake dust.

I say black , it might be hard for them to match the DSG on the bottom of yer truck. You dont wanna be runnin around with 2 diffrent shades of DSG ....... just my $0.02

My old truck (2003) had same color scheme. I think black would look better than DSG even if they could create a perfect match.

I just learned what powdercoat actually is, and I'm going to powdercoat everything I can for now on. What the shop that did my grille told me, is if a rock hits my grille, the paint won't chip because it's powdercoated, and also they told me powdercoat is flexible and showed me some paintchips and was flexing it back and forth and didn't brake like normal paint would. Powdercoat your rims!

Make sure you choose a person that has experience and as long as the powdercoat is done right, it'll last. I had my chrome wheels done solid black as well as my lug nuts.

I'd go with the DSG powdercoat. With the black you'd have 3 different colors going on and to me that's too much.

Your chance of coming out with a different gray is no more than coming out with a different shade of any other color. If it's a good shop using good powdercoat and they know what they're doing they'll look great.

Have a DSG FX4. Decided to powdercoat my 20" OEM wheels. Am very pleased. Check out my album for the photos.

I couldn't tell in the pics, but are your wheels black or dark gray?

You will have to paint the center caps yourself. They are plastic, and can't be powder coated.
