offset?

Im looking at two wheels. one a -11 offset and the other is + 12 offset. Whats the difference? -11 would make em stick out more? Im looking for a exact fit on my tire which is 8.5 rim width. But they only come in + 12 for the rim im thinking. Should i sacrifice my dream of having them to stick out just to fit the tire exactly?

I think I am a little confused with your question....Are both rims 8.5'' wide? If so, the -11 offset will stick out about an inch more. Are you saying the tires you want have a recommended rim width of 8.5? If so, you don't have to stick exactly to that as long as you are close you will be fine. If you can clear some of this up we can help you!

I am not sure I understand your question either. Considering both rims are both 8.5" wide the -11 will give you a backspace of 4.3" and the +12 will give you a backspace of 5.2". So yes the first rim will stick out considerably more than stock. Between the two I'd go with the second one but there are too many other variables that will affect it.

Sry guys, Im getting the bfg all terrain. This tire requires the rim width to be 8.5, One of my wheels im looking at is 18x9 with -11 offset, now the other wheel im looking into is a 18x8.5 with +12 offset. What should i go with? Advantages? disadvantages? Thanks for the help guys

8.5" it will stick out about 1.3" more than stock rims (the 9" would stick out about 2.7" over stock). Not sure what tire size you are after but that will be the determining factor, if it is a bigger tire you are trying to squeeze in you will want the 8.5" as they are much closer to oem wheel specs

Also, the difference between an 8.5 and 9" wide rim is not going to have any noticeable effects.
