Wheel Spacers or Adapters...?
Wheel Spacers or Adapters...?
Hello all, I have an 05 F-150 FX4. I want my wheels/tires to stick out a bit past the fenders to increase handling and to look better with my new fiberglass fenders.
I got the truck used with Eagle Alloy 137's (17x8 +14offset 4.95 BS). I have 315/70/17 BFG AT's and they are just about flush with the edge of the truck now.
I don't want to spend $ on a new set of rims, so I'm considering wheel spacers/adapters to acheive this look.
I know they are generally not a good idea, but which would be better to use...spacers or adapters? I do minor offroading with the truck, nothing that hardcore.
Would Billet Adapters or A-Dapt-It USA be good companies to go with?
Thanks for your input

i use 2 inch billet wheel spacers with 275/65 on my stock 18in lariat wheels for winter tires looks good never had a problem although i went back after a few hundred miles and had everything torqued down again hope this helps..
I am running 1.5 billet adapters with factor rims and 315/70/17 KL71's. Had them on for about 3k mi, in mud, rough gravel rds, and highway. No problems! Paid $200 after shipping from ezaccesseries.com.

You would be better off buying new 17x9" wheels with 4.5" backspacing, and selling your old wheels in my opinion. Wheel spacers can be troublesome and the better ones are expensive. To me it would be worth the piece of mind to spend a couple hundred more in the end, and have new wheels without spacers.
