Lug Nuts and Studs Snapped

Hey guys, I've been looking around for some info for this for a while and it seems somewhat limited. I drive an 03 F150 and recently had all but two of the studs on my front passenger side tire shear off. I have no idea how or why but in any case I need it repaired. The shop tells me that with labour and parts it will come to around $300. I cant really find any information on how fair of a price this is, but the shop has a reputation of ripping people off. ( I would have gone somewhere else but I didn't want to drive anywhere)
So to sum up, What should I do? Take the price or argue?

Thanks for any help.

Sounds high to me. It's been years since I've replaced a stud but $300 sounds high.

seriously no. save your hard earned money. ok ive replaced studs on my truck my younger brothers mustang. all you need is a hammer and the proper size wrench to fit your lug nuts. go to your local napa (preferably them cuz they sell higher quality parts generally) or autozone or whereever and get however many new studs, and lugnuts that you need, there pretty darn cheap like under 20 bucks for all is what i'd expect to pay. its a pretty simple procedure. take off your tire and rotor and punch the old ones out. (may need to use some sort of punch if there sheared flush) then once you got them out slip in the new studs from the back and put on your brake rotor. put the lug nut on over your rotor and tighten it up. keep on wrenchin her till it sucks the stud all the way up into the hole. (studs threaded, you'll know when its all the way in) if the rotors not enough to suck it in you might have to use a couple of washers. once its in just take of the lug nut and reinstall your tire. very simple problem to fix yourself. no reason to take it to a shop. although i gotta say ive never heard of somebody shearin off three studs at once. what in the hell did you put that poor truck through? sounds like ya had a pretty good time
