Rim Width. 8.5 or 10

OK. I can't get the search function to work for me right now and I need info quick.

I'm looking at the 20" Rockstarts with a 305/55/20 tire. 33x12.5x20

They come in the 10" and 8.5" width.

I have a 2.5 HBS leveling kit on my 4wd FX4 (2004)

Any idea on if the 10" rim will work? Or should I stick with the 8.5"?

Also, how much differece in appearance is there with the 1.5" rim width difference?

Thanks for all the help.

I have an 02 FX4 and have a 305/55/20 around a 20x10 wheel. If you like a wide aggressive stance, go with the 10". I can't imagine you'd have much trouble with them since you have the leveling kit. What is the backspacing on those?

The 20x10's are 4.5"

The 20x8.5's are 6.13"

Well based on that, I believe the 10" wide wheel will stick out 3" further than the 8.5" wheel (~1.5" of less backspacing, and an extra 1.5" of width). I think that would still work though with the leveling kit and 33's. Wandell is the guru and hopefully he'll chime in soon.

Hope I've helped a bit.

The 8.5's will stick out about 1/2 inch farther than your OEM wheels and the 10's would stick out 3.5 inches farther than your stock wheels.

Are you referring to the 35 mm offset wheels?

not sure if this has been seen before, but www.wheelsmaster.com has a good offset program to compare wheels.

I believe I'll be about 1.5" out with the 10mm offset

The 35mm offset shoudl be 0.5" out from OE.
