Another tire fitment question???

Ok so I have tried to find this out from multiple other postings but havent got a concrete answer yet. Here goes. I have an 04 with 2.5 inch level. I have run 35s before on stock rims with rubbing at full lock. I want to get XD addicts in an 18X9 or 17X9 and still run the 35s. My question is do i need the

+18 offset
5.71 Backspace

OR

-12 offset
4.53 Bacspace

The 18s show both of these sizes avail. but the 17s only show the -12 4.53.
Please help me out guys Im going to order these soon. Thanks

You need to add a 3 inch body lift or a full suspension lift before you will be able to fit 35x12.50's with either of those wheels.

[/IMG]I run 285-75-17 Toyo MT's on 17x8 Centerlines with 4.5" of BS. I have no rubbing or fit issues. I would stay away from -offset wheels. It just pushes the whole wheel and tire further outward. The positive offset wheel you mentioned would fit more like stock. The problem arises when you get into aftermarket wheels that are much wider than the stock wheel. The stock wheel is only 7.5" wide and has 6" of BS. That's why guys get away with running 35" tires. Unless your new wheel has the same dimensions as the stock then (not likely) you will have rubbing issues. Wandell is the man when it comes to wheel and tire fitment on this site. To my knowledge he has always been on the money and never steered anyone wrong, including myself. If he says it ain't gonna fit then it's true. Hope this helped.

yeah the stock rims are 7.5'' wide and have 5.5'' bs so if you want to fit a 35x12.50 you pretty much have to get an aftermarket rim that is as close to stock rim as possible, i.e. an 8'' wide rim with 5.5'' bs. Or in donbeeler's case get a 35 that is only 11.50'' wide with a bs that sticks out an extra inch. Pawpaw is another great example of how to do it right, I believe his rims are 8'' wide with 5.5'' bs and he had/has 35x12.50's...

well the 295/70/18 is a 34.5 tall tire and is like 11.50 wide. Would this work better with the 5.71 BS wheel? The BS is only .21 difference than stock.

It may fit. But, it's an odd size combo which is why we are basically giving you an educated guess.

Talked to the guy at 4wheelparts and he thinks either would work with the 295/70/18s but im going to go with the 5.71 BS. Ill give an update once I get them Thanks everyone.

The 4.5" BS will not work without major rubbing. You will be a lot closer to the factory specs with the 5.71" of BS on an 8" wheel.

Unfortunately, the help at 4WheelParts is a lot like talking to the greeters at Wal-Mart. (Clueless)

Thanks, this guy seemed to know what hes doing and he drives a ford too. I think with the shorter and thinner tire everything will work fine. I guess ill find out soon.
