nitto dune grappler
nitto dune grappler
ok so im in the process of getting a set of four 08/09 20" lariet rims. now the next question is... what tires? i wanna go with an all terrin'ish tire.
so i was consitering the nitto dune grappler cause i hear there suppost to be good in sand and i plan to shift focus to offroad raceing after i get my KING shocks. so i was wondering if anybody has input on the nitto dune grapplers? or if anyone has them and if so please post pictures.
Thanks

Sand tires are a gimmick IMHO but if they'll sell. We don't use sand tires in the Army and we drive in some of the sandiest places on earth with the loosest gravel and grains. We also have heavier trucks than a 1/2 ton F150 or even the SDs, I believe the average Humvee now weighs close to 5,000 pounds after all the armor is put on. Then there are the heavier trucks like MRAPs and LMTVs that weigh 10 tons or more and none of us use special sand tires.
Unless you're into baja/desert style racing I'd avoid such tires. Get an O/T tread and decrease air pressure prior to moving through the sand if you're doing something out there. We use the CTIS to do this automatically from within the cab and I imagine there's a civilian version of the system.
