I hope soneone can shed some light on this for me. I keep getting an ABS light even though I have done the following:

*replaced the rear sensor twice
*replace the pigatil connector on the rear sensor
*had codes cleared by a professional

The "pro" code scanner ran a diagnostic and showed all was well.

If I do exactly the following I can get the light to stay out:

*Foot on brake (and hold it)
*Start the truck
*Put in gear
*Then release the brake

About 9 times out of 10 the light will stay out but only if I follow that exact sequence. I know the internal diagnostic will only complete it's cycle once pressure is removed from the pedal but what could that have to do with the truck being in gear or not? Any ideas?

My 2002 F150 has been doing the same thing. Replaced 2 sensors, checked pigtail. Ford dealer ran a diagnostic pinpoint test and said it was the ABS module. Will probably let them replace module but I just can't bring myself to spend $500.00+ for repair.
I tried your work around to keep the warning light off and it seems to work on my truck also.

 

I'm glad to know that I haven't completely lost my mind (only partially)

Your experiance with the dealership gives me another avenue to look at.

Thanks again for the suggestion. Picked up a used module on evil-bay for $75 that had 25k less miles than mine of the same year. Plugged it in and all is well!!!
