Newbie needs help!

I'm new on this forum. First post. Been lurking in an effort to find my answers however still have a couple of questions. With all due respect if you are not sure please say so. I'd hate to spend 2K on tires/rims have them shipped and not fit!!

1) What is the factory backspace or offset on stock '06 F150 FX4 18 inch rims?

2) Is it a 9 or 8.5 in. rim?

3) My truck is leveled and I am going with new rims and tires. Looking at 9 in rims (18 inch). If I go with a lower number backspace tire will stick out more correct (For example a 4 in. BS with stick out more than a 6 in. BS. Correct?

4) Considering 305/60/18. If I go with 35x12.5 Will they rub. I think this is close to a 320/70/18.?

5) Lastly, called one of the big 1-800 tires places for a good price. I had read an earlier thread about "hub centric" The guy tells me that is only for some vehicles "don't worry about it" However the ATX I'm looking at are hub centric in my pattern (6x135). He said it is meaningless. I asked about hub spacers and he got annoyed. Do I need hub spacers on non hub centric rims for proper centering?

BTW: Which sponser in your experience offers best price?

The stock wheels are 18x7.5 with a 5.5 inch BS. To get 35 inch tires to fit on a leveled 4x4 you need wheels with as close to these specs as possible to avoid rubbing in the front. If you want a 9" wheel I'd stick with a 5.5 to 6 inch BS but would limit tire size to a 305x65x18 which is close to 34 inches tall. As long as the pattern is 6x135mm you ought to be OK. And yes a 9" wide wheel with 4.5 BS would stick out 2 1/2 inches more then stock not counting the extra tire width. Also stay away from spacer's if you can. Check with Wandell later and he will be glad to help also. Welcome to the site!

Thanks for the info. Will I be OK in a 9 in wheel and 4.5 of backspace? I realize they will stick out past wheel well but no rubbing, right.

Ill keep away from the 35in tires. So in a "lug centric" wheel no problem centering wihout a hub spacer?

PawPaw got pretty much everything right on.

35's will only fit if you keep the backspacing of your wheel close to stock specs. I'm running a 34.7" tire on a 20x9 rim with 6 3/8 backspacing. No rubbing at all.

To get the best deal on wheels/tires, I've gone on-line and found the best price for whatever I want, then bring that price to my local tire shop (Discount Tires is right across the street) and they match my on-line price.

If you go with a 4.5" BS, stick to a 33" tire (like the 305/60/18 you mentioned). No hub spacer needed.

With the 305x60 I think you'll be OK.

ALso, I think you are confusing the term hub spacers and hub centric rings. Hub centric rings are small rings that you place over your hub to basically convert the wheels to a hub centric design. They are not needed 95% of the time. If you have issues with vibrations, I'd install a set. The wheels you have chose with a 305/60-18 (33x12.50) tire will fit fine.
