Tpms removal.....help!!

Just got 22inch rims for my 07 Expedition. I wanted to keep sensors in stock wheels for when i put them back on in winter. Now the light is on and keeps saying tpms default in information screen. Anyway to turn the system off? Do I have to have a sensor in rim? Thanks

you have bands in your rims. they have sensors on them. you cant shut the system off. i have sensors in both sets of wheels for my truck and i bought the reset tool so i can change sets and tell the truck to look for the right sensors.. sorry for the bad news

but you can get a set of ebay or craigslist (if lucky) from) from $50 - 200 and a sensor tool for $35

That's what happens when the government puts their nose in your business. It will cost you money!!

well i have to say, as much as i don't like tpms systems, the government did not tell him to put new wheels on his truck. so saying that the government sticking their nose in his business is costing him money is not exactly true.

i saw in the saleen wheels thread where a guy made a little pvc air tank then put the sensor in it and put the right amount of pressure inside the tank. then put the tank in the truck and the sensors will always be off.

That only works for a short period of time. Once the truck realizes that the sensors never "woke up" (activated via motion) the TPMS light will turn on. I HATE this particular system. Who can't take a few moments to check the pressure in their tires or just do a visual walk-around? It's all part of normal maintenance anyways.
