305 55 20 vs 285 65 20

I currently rub the drivers side rear valence with my 305s. Will 285 65 20 prevent this from happening?

drivers rear valance.....cut it. my 305's rub a part of where the OEM fenderflares are on the fender closest to the door. Im not sure if thats what you mean.

What are the specs on your wheels, i dont remember what you are running. I know there are some guys on here running the size you are asking about with no problems, but BS has to be just right.

no i dont want to cut it. I am looking to get new tires anyway. Will I still have to cut if I go 285 65 20 or 285 55 20s?

if you're going back to the stock 20's then they'll both fit if you're leveled. i have the 305's on wheels with specs very similar to the stockers and there's no rubbing at all.

My understanding (from Wandell no less) is that the 305s fit just fine on the stock wheels.

They do not, had them, they rub on upper and lower control arms and sway bar. New wheels fixed that but now I rub on drivers side rear valence.

"Fit" is a relative term. To some people "fit" means there is not contact at any point throughout the full cycle of the suspension and steering. To some, "fit" means they didn't have to cut much sheetmetal with their sawsall.

I guess not all 305/55/20's are created equal.

Sorry about that wreed, I guess "fit" is relative. Somebody here is running 305 Mickey Thompson ATZs on stockers and I thought he said they did not rub.

Wreed thats where i rub also at full lock backing is when the tread grabs it. It is annoying, but im not about to go and by new tires to solve it..I dont think mine would rub if my fender flares were new maybe. Mine were pushed out from small sandy rocks and dirt in that area. Id say if you were due for new tires then change them, but if you are not and you dont want to spend the money a box knife or some other tool is a very easy fix. you remove an inch of that piece sticking out and problem solves. Anyway post up when you get it resolved.
