Quick Brake Question?

OK so I went and bought new brake pads and rotors to do a total brake change. get home take off the wheels and calipers and......the pads look great! About half life left. But what got me to want to change them is as Im stopping it seems the pedal goes down about half way and it still seems to not stop as good as it should with such good pad left.

Has anyone else had this happen? Should I just change them anyway or just top off the fluid and ride them out?

I need some replies quick truck is still in the air naked!

ive always been told you should change the pads when the friction material is the same width as the metal on the back..

mine are the same..filling up the brake fluid will not help anything..change the pads, then fill up the brake fluid.

Pushing the slave cylinder back in with new pads will push fluid back into the reservoir and raise the fluid level. If your that far, and you bought better pads, then change them and you'll be happy. You save a lot doing them yourself. Just make sure you do a good job of cleaning up all the contact points, including the hubs.

Ive decided to just change it all. Maybe its hazed over, I dont know. New stuff with 80K cant hurt. And the good thing I guess is its all original. But yeah the new pads have slots for cooling and the rotors are brand new. Ill turn the old rotors and keep til I need them next for a quick change or sale them. Thanks for the replies guys.

Oh greencrew. I see you want a nav. I got the Clarion NX509. The best all around headunit with nav, dvd, all options that can be added like steering wheel controls, Bluetooth, and tis Ipod and Iphone ready. Just plug and play. Its awesome. I got it from http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+-NX-509-.html The cheapest place and comes with some free goodies for install.
