Dumped The OEM Tires !
My '09 F-150 had terrible mushy ,vague steering from day one. I had the dealer check the steering but it was OK. My regular mechanic drove it and said ,right away, it was soft sidewalls. The OEM tires were Hankook Dynapro AT 235/75R17. Don't confuse this with their Dynapro ATM which is an off road tire which gets good comments always. When we took them off we saw they had paper thin sidewalls ,no wonder they caused poor handling !! Shame on Ford for using those tires.
The replacement tires are Cooper Discoverer CTS 245/70R17. What a world of difference !! Immediate response to steering ,great road feel, even the braking is different. It gives me great confidence.
Now I've got the truck all sorted out and modified for me. Happy time !!

My 09 4x4 came with the General Ameritrac. They were down right dangerous. I replaced them with Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2's at the 2,000 mile mark. The General's were so bad that I felt guilty selling them on craigslist.com!
rugged trail terrain tires are a smig above what the general's are. The generals might even be better. Rugged trails=worst tire ever made
My 06 XLT came with 245/70/17 General Grabber TR (garbage), I had steering wheel shake problems since day 1. Shame on Ford for that I drove my truck like that for 2 years fighting back with ford by the end I give up. They told me to contact the General Grabber Factory to get new replacements (I didn't, too tired to fight). In 3 weeks i will get 20'rims and 275/55/20.
