wheel spacers

So i was looking at some wheel spacers (the kind that have new grade 8 studs pressed in) and for some reason, it is saying that I cannot use these spacers because I have washer type lug nuts. Does anyone know if there is a wheel spacer out there that I can use? Thanks

Ok....first....are you using spacers or wheel adapters? There is a huge difference between the two. Wheel adapters bolt onto your original wheel studs and have new bolts pressed into the aluminum, making your wheel and adapter a monolithic item. Spacers, which are frowned upon, simply slide over your existing wheel studs and do nothing more than push your wheel away from your vehicle. From what you said in your post it looks as if you may be using the adapters, that is the better of the two. Now, you can absolutely use adapters, they come either hub centric or not, if they are hub centric then they will fit tightly around the hub of your rotor. If they are not hub centric they will slide over your rotor easily and ultimately me centered by conical shaped lug nuts. Bottom line, ditch the washer type lug nuts and buy some conical shaped lugs that will center your adapter onto your wheel. I used the adapters for a year or so without any issues. Actually, I still have them and the nuts. Wheel adapters are used to change the bolt pattern, so that you can use aftermarket wheels etc. Spacers are bad because they shorten the thread length of your existing wheel studs putting un-designed stress on the lug bolts which can cause them to shear, making your wheel fall off and definitely ruining your day.

Yes sir I am talking about the wheel adapters with new studs. However, they won't change my bolt pattern because I want to use my stock wheels. I had thought about buying conical lug nuts, but I thought I had washer style lug nuts so the pressure would be distributed better thus not damaging my stock alloys. If I can use the conical style on my alloy wheels though, I will definitely do that. I appreciate the input and I'm glad to see that you have not had any issues with your adapters because it seems like everyone says your wheels will fall off if you use these. Thanks again!

I researched the wheel adapters for months. They are used on race cars, rock crawlers and every vehicle in between. As long as you check you wheels from time to time and make sure your lugs are tight then you should have no issues, I know I never did.

this is the reason you cannot use them. your factory wheels use washer style lug nuts therefor are HUB CENTRIC. If you move the wheel off of the hub lip with a spacer you have nothing centering the wheel. So if you want to use this style spacer you need wheels that are LUG CENTRIC that can use an acorn stlye nut.
