I'm looking to go from stock 275/65r18's to 285/70r18's BF Goodrich All Terrain ta/ko's. I have a 09 XLT 4X4 w/o level or lift. Will I have any clarence issues? What kind of ride change/ MPG can I expect with the new set up?

 

not real sure. but i have seen a 285 65 18 on stock rims with no problems

 

no clearance issues, expect 14-15 mpg. looks great though.

 

I don't think there is any 285-70-18 size tire, there's only 275-70-18 and 285-65-18, at least according to their website. Post pictures either way.

 

BFG does not make a 285/70/18, and I don't think anyone else does either. I know because I have done a lot of research looking for tires. I just put on 275/70/18 BFG ATs on my 2010 4x4 w/o level and they fit and look perfect. I have a 1.5 AS level kit on order though, but just to take the rake out. Not required with this size though as there is no rubbing. Just so you know these tires look wider because of the tread (over stock goodyears) and give it a great stance and I netted just over an inch of height gain.

Man, you just made my night, I have been waiting so long to see a 09+ F150 with a 1.5 AS Level and 275/70/18's. I always thought it would be the perfect combination, just had to see them together on a truck. I am ordering my level very soon, still shopping tires. I've had good luck with BFG AT's, thinking about Grabber AT2's. Don't want to get TOYO's or Nittos (I do like the Trail Grapplers though) like every other truck on the road. Just want something with a nice square sidewall...open to suggestions.

 

They make a 285x65x18, right under 33 inches tall. They will fit easily on the stock wheels. They are LT rated and will ride a little stiffer then the P rated factory tires. They will last 60k miles easy if taken care of. Expect about a 1 mpg drop in mileage mostly is stop and go city driving. Also your speedometer will be off about 2 mph due to the height difference. They are worth it though in my opinion!

 

I know this post is old, but if anyone is still reading or searching for info;
I just put BF Goodrich AT/KO 285/65/18 on my 2004 FX4 and they rub up front when you turn the wheel all the way. I even bought MotoMetal wheels which have a backspace of 4.53. I thought they wouldn't rub because I previously had 33x12.5x17 procomp tires and procomp wheels with a backspace of 5 and they never rubbed. Anyway, I may end up putting the 2" leveling kit on the front because the rubbing is annoying when trying to backout or pull in tight parking spots.
I'll post some pics when I get home.

 

Should fit without a problem. I do have to agree on the leveling kit. Makes a big difference in how the truck looks. There are some pretty simple kits out that that don't cost to much.
Truxxx makes one for just the front that brings it up 2" for $171.00.

That is the Mud Terrain. The OP is looking for All Terrain, which is not made in 285/70R18.

 

OP posted in 2009. Im sure he will now go ahead and purchase a set of 285/70/18s that hes been waiting on for four years now.
