Tire wearing on the outside

I have an 08 FX4 that I bought new last year. I put a 2" autospring on the front and a 3" replacement block in the back to level the truck up to where I wanted it. I had the front end aligned the next day. I then wanted bigger tires. I bought a set of Toyo Open Coutry's that are one size bigger. I have had the tires for about 6-8 months and just had them rotated. The outside tread is wearing faster than the inside. I had the front end aligned again last week and was told that it was not very far off. All four tires are wearing the same way but the fronts are a little worse. I keep 40 psi in all 4 tires. Also want to add that I live and work where I drive on gravel roads. Someone please help.

If it is just the outside edge, that sounds like an alignment problem. What load range and max pressure are the tires.

3640 lbs @ 80 psi. I was told not to put but half of that.

If you are really hauling anything, you would need to bump them up to about 45-50. Your rear axle is rated at 4000lbs. At 40, you would be closer to 1800lbs per tire. But what you are using should not cause the wear you are getting, although low pressure causes wear on the outside of the tire, but it would be both sides, where you only are getting wear on 1 side. That brings it back to the alignment, or possibly bad components. Which with the age of your vehicle is unlikely.

its supposedly only hard to align once you go past stock size =/

but once you get a lift it will be fine.

align the truck. its a must.

to properly figure out what pressure you need in your tires, do the chalk test. i did it with my sons sidewalk chalk.

you can ask all day what pressure to run your tires at, but to find out for sure, the chalk test is the only way to go.

google it.
