wheel spacers?

Has anyone used wheel spacers? I like my stockers but would like to push them out about 1.5in. I have talked to the local offroad shop, and they said they have used up to 2.5 in spacers with no problems. Anybody else have any experience with them?

I just hear they are hard to keep tires ballanced... or you can generate a lot of shack on the highway

It just puts more stress on the attachment equipment IMO. Moving all of that weight of the rotating mass out further and resting the weight of the tuck on the apparatus to transfer the load is not the best option. Lots of people do it, but I imagine it just increases stress and wear.

They can cause tire fitment and vibration issues.

I went from a F150 to an Audi S4 before coming back to my F150 and spacers were big in the modified circles. The overall consensus (sp?) is along the lines of yetti and wandell's comments, and for that reason, I never did it. You might get some benefit in the short run, but the cummulative effect could be detrimental in the long run, especially if you have a lift (I would think).

i had wheel spacers on my 98 f150. never had problems, but stuff will wear out faster, like steering and front end components.
