08 f150 tire pressure sensor question

i have a 2008 f150 fx4. i took off the stock wheels and put on aftermarket wheels so i dont have the sensors in them. my question is, is there a way to override the light on the dash, or am i stuck with it that way?

what i think most people do jake, is they take the sensors out of the stock wheels and put them in there aftermarket wheels. dont take my word for it but i have read about this.

From what I understand, you have to get new sensors for the new rims. Or at least new bands for inside the wheels. If not, then most guys just open the dash and put black tape over the LED or some have painted it black.

IDK...the light doesn't seem to bother me and it's not always on so I think i'm just gonna leave it alone for now.

A friend of mine told me that he built an air tight can out of PVC fittings and put the sensors in there and put 40 psi and put it under the seat. He said it works but ive not been over to check it out so dont hold me to this but it might be worth a try.

It doesn't work as the sensors send signals depending upon whether they are moving at 25mph or more, or stopped. If stopped it only sends signals every hour. If moving every minute. The vehicle receiving unit expects those timings from the sensors. If the sensors always think they are stopped, then the signal settings don't match and after about 20 miles, the system will set a fault and flash the light 75 times, then come on solid. If he only does short trips, then he might never have the light come on. Long trips he will.
