Offset

Backspace and offset go hand in hand. There are few that are really schooled in this crazy science but Wandell is one of them and I'm sure he will chime in soon but I do know when you get into negative offsets it really pushes the wheel out beyond your wheel well. But so much depends on your wheel width, and backspacing, if your vehicle is leveled/lifted, the size of tire etc. So there are others here that are more informed than I and I'm sure they will chime in soon. Good Luck!

Offset is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel (where it bolts to the hub) to the center of the wheel. Backspacing is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the rear edge of the wheel. BS is much easier to understand because it doesn't change with wheel width.

Thanks for your response Wandell,

I am looking at a 20X9 with 4.50" of BS and a -12mm Offset. What is the offset doing?

Offset and BS are just two different ways of measuring the same thing.
