Can someone school me on rim offset?

I have a 06 Mark LT. Im looking to do a 3.5"/5" drop w/ the Saleen 23" wheels. In my situation I would think it doesnt affect anything since I assume all the 23" Saleen wheels are the same. Or is there something else? Like spacers or something? My goal is to have my wheels at max, flush with the fenders. I dont want them sticking out at all. Please let me know what i should do.

Thanks!

Right. Wheel spacers are usually a bad idea.
