Chains for F150?

I know, you shouldn't need them. I have some A/T style tires also, lots of clearance. However, if you've ever been in the snow/mud in Colorado during a hunting season you know that chains are a necessity.
So, pardon if this is a silly question, but what kind of chains can be used on a 97 F150? Does it matter? My buddy had a fairly new 1/2 ton Dodge, put chains on that he bought from Wallyworld (or somewhere) and they almost beat the suspension off the truck. He then found out you are not really supposed to put chains on 1/2 ton trucks..... is that the case for my Ford???

I bought these a couple of years ago for my 2wd truck. Read a lot of good reviews about them, but I personally have never used em. I originally got them for when I go to the mountains in the winter. I've always seen chains on 1/2 ton trucks for years. But this was back when we still got snow in MD.

I have to use chains every winter when I go home to Virginia, we live in the blue ridge mountains and the sheer length of my truck makes it real squrally to drive on the ice. got the cheap ones from ACE hardware, thay work great!!

None at all, these chains fit very snug to the tires. Just make sure you order the ones for the correct size tire. They match to exact tire size, not just wheel diameter. There is adjustments and the instructions are great (they even have pictures ). I put mine on when I first got them just to see how long it would take me if\when I actually needed to use em.
