Why do I rub only when backing up?

Why do I rub only when backing up?

Guys I just got Incubus Recoils 20x9 and 305/55R20 Toyo ATs. This has fixed my rubbing problem on the control arms and sway bar but now I run on the back of the drivers fender flare and it only seems to occur while in reverse!

What can I do to this fix this and why does it not run while going forward?

i have the same problem in reverse...only thing i can figure is that torque shift to the front end (lowering front end just a hair) and ford is known for front end "tow-in" while in reverse....imagine what your rear end does when you stomp on the gas going forward except it would be the opposite when in reverse...if that makes any sense

The tires are about 1200 and the wheels can be had for 800-900

They are Incubus Recoils.

Ya it does, How can I hold that piece back so it does not rub?

Maybe your *** is too big? I hope you take that better than my wife did. I still have to sleep with two eyes open.

Anyway, is it on the front or back wheels? If it’s front, I would agree with the lowering of the front end under acceleration and toe in as stated above. However, If it is in the back, I would also check the u-bolts to make sure they are torqued correctly.

Im 21 and skinny as a toothpic!

The rubbing occurs on the front drivers rear valence.

Lol, wish I was 21 and skinny. Lol. Anyway, I agree, weight of the truck is shifting. Just trim the valance a little or let it rub awhile and the tires will trim it. Better the valance than the UCA or LCA.

That depends where your rubbing at. I think most people rub on the plastic corner of the lower front valence. I trimmed a small 1" triangle off mine with a razor blade. If it is the valence, you are probably rubbing in forward too, but in reverse the tread catches more. It's like petting a dog or cat backwards if you can imagine..?

Mine was doing the same thing when I backed out of my garage. I am pretty sure it was the pitch of my driveway and the way the front of the truck dips slighty when backing up. It did not rub pulling into the garage.

I used a jig saw to cut a rounded corner off the lower valance and then I used a file to clean-up the edges. I also rounded the other side, so they would match in case someone looked real close.

So far, no one has noticed...
