Wide tires for stock 02 16" XLT rims
Wide tires for stock 02 16" XLT rims
So, I need new tires, I want to go with 33s but i have 3.31 gears so for now ill stay close to stock ride height. However, I want to go wide. At least give it a nice aggressive stance... Anyway, what sizes would you guys recommend that are about the stock size height wise (anywhere from 30" to 31") but wide and still fit on the stock 16s. Stock size is 255/70/16, I was gonna go with 265/70/16 but ide like to go wider. Looked at some 275/70/16s, any other recommendations? Any pics of stock suspension trucks with wide *** 30 or 31 in tires on stock 16s?
Let me know, currently looking at these Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo in 275/70/16

You've only got a 7" wide wheel, so you don't really want to go 'too wide', but if you also want to keep the same tire height, you will have to go down in aspect ratio from your current '70' series to something like a '60' series.
Your current 255/70/16 are about 30" tall. Going to a 285/60/16 will be about 29.5" tall. A 285/65/16 will be about 30.5" tall.
I wouldn't go any wider then a 285 on the stock 7" wide wheels however.
Lower profile tires might look a bit 'funny' on a 4x4, but that's a subjective subject all on it's own and not what you are asking for on this thread!
Good luck!

3.31 gears? on a 4x4?
The widest tire any tire manufacture specifies for a 16x7" wheel is 265's. Going beyond the tire manufacturers recommendations will void any warranty. Yes, many have mounted and ran 285's.
265/75R16 is almost the exact same height as the stock off road package of 265/70R17's. Even with that, with 3.31 gears, it is going to feel sluggish off the line.
