screw in tire
I had a roofing nail in one of my tires on my '99. Now if IIRC, they plugged it and patched it... it's making me think... hmmm...
just cruise over to a tire shop and the will put the truck on a lift, take the tire off and pull out the nail/screw and patch watever and wat not. ive had 4 nails in my tires (nitto 420) which are wide as hell (305) and they pick up anything. cost me 20 bucks each time (the size of the rim)
Most people say patches are better, but I've never had a problem with plugs. Usually if the tire is relativitly new I will have it patched, but if it's a couple years old I will just plug it. Plugs are cheaper and a lot faster since the wheel isn't even removed off the truck.
You can buy plug kits at your local parts store. I prefer the leather plugs to the rubber type.
If it's the front tire you don't even need to take it off. Just turn the wheel as far as you can and align the screw to where you can pull it out with a pair of side cutters, rheum the whole with the supplied tool in the kit, and then plug and air. Shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes and the kit is less than 10 bucks.
That's what I've done anyways.

yea getting stuff in your tires sux i had a screwdriver in one of mine 4 days after i bought them $3500 for the set i was pissed and broke lol i picked up the screwdriver at the parking lot where i worked. but luckily it didnt puncture the tire just went under the tread whew i was glad at $400 a tire i didnt have to buy a new one.
but to answer your question i have had plugs come out get them to take it off and patch it they do it from inside the tire and its a better way to have it fixed.

I personally like a patch better on a newer tire. I just think they hold better, plus the places around here require a patch if you have a warranty problem. But if its an older tire I will usually just plug it.

lol yea i though so to.
i didnt even notice it my buddy that i worked with was driving in the other lane next to me and called me and asked me what was the ticking noise on my truck i turned down the stereo and i heard it too. so i moved my driver mirror so i could see the tire and i saw it flashing each time it went around. i drove 40 mi before i got to the tire store cause i didnt know what it was really and wanted to get there before it went flat or something. i was really suprised when the guy at discount tire pulled it out and it didnt go pssssss( it was a 6" phillips screwdriver). lol i just knew i would have to buy a new tire when i saw it sticking out, but im glad it didnt because the manager had just told me he didnt have any tires that fit a 24" rim but 40k mi later still no problems with it.
