Wandell HELP

Tire shop just called and said they dont want to see my get Recoils because they are only going to be 8.5" wide. I want to run a 325/60R18 tire, which is 33x13R18 I believe.

They recommended the Helo HE791 with the following specs:

18x9 10 offset 5.39" bs 6x135

You think this will fit without rubbing on my truck?

What kind of truck do you have and is it leveled? (4x2 or 4x4)

I am not sure why they will not allow you to use an 8.5" wide wheel on the 33x13s, but they must be too narrow. All tires have a rim width specification that you can normally find on the company website.

I have an 18x9 wheel with 0 offset and 5" of BS with 33x12.5 Toyo MTs. I also have a 2" AS lift. My tires rub slightly on the drivers side lower valance when backing up. With a 1/2" wider tire and .39" more BS, yours will probably be about the same if the tire is an MT. An AT might just clear it due to a less aggressive tread pattern.

The Helo's will fit fine. Also, I agree that a 325mm wide tire would be fine on an 8.5 inch wide wheel. Maybe they just have some Helo's in stock or found some discounted (giving them a larger profit margin). Look at the tire manufactuerer's website and see what they recommend.

Toyos website does NOT recommend a 8.5" rim for use with the 325/60R18 so they were correct and no they were not trying to sell me on one rim over the other.

Anyway... I got 305/55R20 Toyo ATs on my stock wheels instead. They look sick and ride awesome, however I have very slight rubbing on the upper control arms at full lock. AHHHHH!!!

What can I do to correct this??? Is this tire just too big?

Do you have any rubbing on the sway bar, or upper and lower control arms?

I rub in the same spot backing up! Why does this only occur in reverse?

I think it is because the truck dips towards the front when backing up. I used a jig saw to round off my lower valance by a 1/2 inch and it took me about 2 minutes per side. I did both sides so they would match in case anyone looked real close at the front of my truck. So far, no one has noticed.

EDIT: This thread is from 4 months ago. Are you still having the problem?

I do not have any rubbing at all, now that I trimmed the lower valance.
