Where is the emergency brake adjuster

I have a 2004 XLT new body style. Reading the various threads about the emergency brake I wanted to check mine and change the rear brakes while I am in there. I have looked everywhere and can not find the adjuster. Can someone show me where it is?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

The E-brakes adjust just like the old style drum brakes, with the star wheel.

I do not find any star adjuster or anything that I could put a wrench on. The cable hooks onto the ebrake mechcanism and there is a slot that cable is held to the assembly with what appears to be plastic on each side of the cable. Nothing that looks like an adjuster. If that is it I would be shocked.

This is a 4x4 if it makes any difference.

Thanks,

The ebrake is a set of drums that are inside the hat part of the rotor. They adjust just like drum brakes. On the back plate there is a rubber plug. From that you can use a screwdriver to move the star wheel to tighten or loosen the ebrake.

Thanks for location information. It wasn't easy to work with. The hole is offset from the adjuster, I was shocked. Other older vehicles I had worked on the adjuster was right behind the plug, directly.

Anyway, I did manage to loosen it, and I still can't get the rotors off.
I would like to keep the rotors rather than replace.

Has anyone ever tried a pulley puller using the axle as the center point?

If anyone else has any other suggestions I sure would appreciate them.

Thanks in advance !
