Stupid question....

I'm new to the whole truck mods thing. I have a 2009 Screw short bed.

Do I need to lift/level to go from stock 17's to custom 18's? I really don't want to go larger...I won't be able to fit in the garage.

That depends on the width and backspacing of the 18's and the tire size.

So the lesser the backspacing, the better off I'll be?

No. I'd stay close to the backspacing of the OEM wheels. Why don't you just tell us the info on your truck and the wheel/tire combo you want to run?

I'm not 100% sure what I want to run. I have the stock 17's on there now, but would like to have a bit larger tires. I'd also like to have chrome rims...but I'm not married to that.

Do you have a 4x4 or 4x2? Are you wanting an offroad type tire or more of a street look.

Sorry...it's a 4x4, and I'm looking for more of a street look, but want to retain the practicality of the tires. I am not looking for high profile or mudders.

I'd install a set of lowering shackles and some 305/45-22's then.
