Question about Rims

does anyone know if my rims that i bought for my 97 f150 will go onto my 2001 f150
the rims for the 97 are 15x8
the oem rims for the 01 are 16x7
other than the 15x8 being smaller will they go right on or is the bolt pattern different. i know i could just try them but i hate to take the tires off just to put them back on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you have 15 inch wheels for a 97? There were very, very few 15 inch wheels ever made for the 5x135mm bolt pattern. They all had very shallow backspacing and would only fit on the 97 and 98 trucks. When Ford changed to rear disc brakes in 1999, a 16 inch or larger wheel was required to fit over the brakes. So even if you do have a very rare set of wheels, they won't fit on your 2001.
