I used to run Firestone Destination M/T but was unaware they made them in that size...is that a recent addition to their line, because they used to stop at 285/70/17...

Update -I just found out that they did in fact add a couple of sizes...The tires did very good when I ran them but they didnt last as long as my Cooper Discoverer STT sets have...I am on my third set of the Coopers now...

I got 33's and I think they look sweet. Haven't taken them off road; not that I ever will.

I too was very impressed with the offroad performance of the Destination MT... They pulled great thru the soft stuff and had great looks. The tread compound was just a bit too soft for my liking and caused them to wear quicker than I would have liked. I got about 20k miles out of my set. I switched to the cooper STT and now average about 45k out of each set

New Size Tire Rack has them for $235.00.
Just wondering if this is too much tire for my gear and motor?

You are the first person i've seen that said they didn't last long. I've read people getting as much as 70K out of a set. I hope I get more than 20K out of them.

I have that size and im ver impressed with them. You can easily get 30-40k out of them with proper rotation and maint. They do great in the mud/snow. There not too good on ice. They do ok in the rain. I will post up some pics soon. I would say get them, you will be happy you did.

You heard of people getting 70k out of a set of Firestone Destination MTs? Impossible - the only mud terrain in common use on light trucks that gets that kind of mileage is the Maxxis Buckshot Mudder because it has an insanely hard tread compound - its also one of the oldest designs still in production.

Now that 70k rating is a much more realistic figure for the Destination AT, and that has been misquoted on this site many, many times.

With proper rotation you can expect the Destination MT to net you about 40k per set at the very, very most (realistic is going to be more like 35k - 37k)...

Been there, done that...Not a cheap mistake to make, hence why I switched and havent looked back - the Coopers cost me more, but I have more than made up for it in the additional mileage I get out of them.

There's even people on this site that state that they "wear like iron". No I don't expect to get 70K out of them. I'll be happy to get 40K.

They have been among our best selling and most recommended M/T tires for quite awhile now. I would definitely recommend.
