Tire Size Help

Hopefully I can get some light shed on this subject...

I have an 04 Supercab FX4 with OEM 18's, and am looking for a more agressive look. I have installed a 2.5 leveling kit, gibson dual, K&N intake and am hungry for this last step. I'm torn between keeping the stock FX4 rims and just buying a bigger tire, or switching over to moto metal 951's. Either way, I need to figure out what size tire looks best in this scenario...

Thanks - Rick

In my opinion a 325/60-18 (33x13.00) or 33x12.50-18 on a 9 inch wide wheel with 5 to 6 inches of abackspacing looks best on a leveled 4x4.

Thanks for the insight, that's kind of where I was leaning. I had been giving the 35" Nitto Grappler consideration, but thought it might be a bit much.

I was planning on putting a pair of Nitto Terra Glappers 325/60/18 (on Ultra Predator 6 rims) on my 2004 Screw FX4, but was told that they would rub (I'm also installing a 3" leveling kit by HBS). Wheel Warehouse recommended I go with 305/55/20. Does that sound right? I don't want more rim then tire...

I wanted to stay with 18's so i could use the stock rims (with new 33's) during the winter.

I have been going through the same dilemna, and I have decided to use the stock FX4 rims and get some 35x12.50-18 Kumho Road Venture M/T's. I was looking at getting the American Racing Cannons in 18x9 and the Nitto TG in 325/60/18, but I decided the bigger, aggressive tire would look better to me.

They were worried about a 325/60-18 (33x13.00) rubbing but not a 305/55-20 (33x12.50)? The 325's are only about 1/2 inch wider.

Yeah, that sounds like someone just trying to make a little extra $$$ on bigger wheels.

That's what I was thinking. Not sure if I want to order from Wheel Warehouse. I don't ever plan on putting 20's on my Screw.

If I go with the 325/60-18's, how much back spacing should I use? Also, would this size fit on my stock rims? Thinking of buying an extra set of tires to get mounted for winter.

That size won't fit stock rims, the tire is too wide. As far as backspacing, a 9" wide wheel with 5"-6" back spacing would work fine.

So what's the biggest 33" tire I can fit on stock FX4 18 inch rims (with a 3" leveling kit)?

I wouldn't go wider than a 12.50 inch (305mm) wide tire on the oem 7.5 inch wheel because even that is pushing it. 325mm wide tires are just to wide for the oem wheel.

I just ordered Pro Comp 6016 18X9.5's and a set of Pro Comp Extreme AT 305/65r18's and I CAN NOT WAIT for them to come in!! Has anyone seen this set up before?

I went to 4WheelParts.com and they've got some serious price slashing going on with the Pro Comp rims...FYI.
