35's with 2.5'' leveling kit?

So here is my problem, my dad won't let me lift my truck(he thinks ill flip it) and i want to keep up w/ my buddies z71's w/ 6'' on 35s. So can I run 35x12.5 mud grapplers on 17x9 moto metals(4.5'' backspacing). I know I will have to trim, and if anyone is running 35's w/ just leveled i would appreciate some pics/ advice.

I have a 2.5 in leveling kit and 35 x12.5 on OEM 18s. I rub a little at full wheel lock but your spacing may be a lot different than mine. I have pics in my album but forgot how to post them to here.

You can't fit them using those wheels and only a leveling kit. You could fit them (if you have a 4x4) with minor rubbing using the oem wheels or a 8 inch wide wheel with 5.5 inches of backspacing.

I've got 9" wide wheels, unfortunately don't know the offset, w/ just a 2" leveling kit and fit 35's under mine with no problems at all. A VERY rare rub while turning on an incline and that's as bad as it gets.

youll have no problem tucking 35's with a leveling kit, you might and thats a big might, have to shave a tiny lil bit on the front bumper, my buddy works at 4 wheel parts and he told me they do it all the time

i think its going to depend on what tire i choose, because most 35s are different sizes, my buddy's 35 bfg mt measure 33 1/2 inches

It depends on the tires and wheel specs to get certain tires and wheels to fit without rubbing with only a leveling kit. Also depends how much trimming you want to do and how much rubbing you can put up with.

Im currently running 35x12.50-20 Toyo MT's on my leveled 06 with Moto Metal 951's 20x9 with 5.71 backspacing. Look in my gallery and you will see how much and where I had to do my trimmin at. I seriously dont think anyone could run the setup you want with the offset you have stated without a suspension lift cause I sometimes rub the UCA when turning sharp and hitting a bump at the same time, but very rarely. I would hate for you to order those wheels and tires and then they rub on the frame or control arm(something you cant cut) when you barely turn the wheel. My suggestion would be 1) find that wheel with a backspacing of 5.71 or like a 6.18(the 6.18 will not stick out as far)...I think thats what Moto Metal 9in wide wheels come in and run the 35's, or 2) if they dont make that wheel in the offsets above just get ya some 33's, the 33's should fit and look great IMO. Hope this helps.

I am becoming more amazed at some of the things that will fit on these trucks with just a leveling kit......definitely some trend bucking and experimentation happening that is working. I am having a problem keeping up with what will and won't fit nowadays.

Stock rims are 7.5'' wide with 5.5'' backspacing

The specs are...
Autospring 2.5" level
Hercules Trail Diggers. 35x12.50/17
Pro Comp 1089s 17x9 4.75" backspacing.

I HAD a rub. Found that a heat gun with soften the plastic inner fender liner up nicely, used a broom handle end to adjust the now soft plastic rearward away from the tire, cooled off and hardened back up looks close enough to stock, and no more rubbing...

I use my truck off road reasonably frequently. Not having a full on lift is actually preferential in certain situations, like side hilling, less of a tendency to roll over...

At this point, I am at the tire size I wanted, and see no need to lift. Which is great. I have other projects / hobbies that suck up money too...
