Valve Stem Failure?

Yesterday I went to the mall, came back out and I had a flat tire. I took it to Good Year today and they said it was a valve stem failure. Do valve stems fail often? Could some punk have stomped it causing it to fail? No damage to the truck itself so I doubt some ***** came up and screwed around with it.

i got a letter from discount tire a while back saying that my valve stems were causing problems and to come in and have them swapped out. good year might have the same valve stem supplier. could be the same problem

Most of the times the rubber will dry rot and cause failure. That's why shops always want to install new ones with new tires.

I had an entire set on my wife's Suburban. The tire dealer told me they had an entire batch of bad valve stems. Took them over a year to replace the bad ones they had installed. The owner told me that the majority of all valve stems are manufactured at the same plant...so yes, valve stems do fail.

u can get the high pressure stems,, they are more metal than rubber,,even though they have a specific purpose it stops the dryrot issue couple bucks each.
