help with snow chains
2007 fx2 supercrew with 7" lift 35" toyo mt. traction control
Do i really need to put chains. my only snow driving is goin snowboarding but this is southern california and roads plowed early morning. Do they make chains for mudders? Do the mudders help at all inthe snow?
Sorry if these are stupid questions but we in southern cal dont really deal with snow. I usually wait for the day after it snowed and roads are cleaned and no chains required.
Is it safe to drive since hwy patrol always thinks im 4x4 and has let me drive thru without chains
anybody with 2wd trucks let me know your experiences

Well I can get around in 2wd no problems, but I'm used to snow.
If chains are required you better have them. I know some places have state patrol officers just sit and wait for people to pull over when chains are required.
They make chains for bigger tires, I have a heavy duty set that I bought for 33's on my last truck, and they fit my 35's, just barely.
When you're driving in snow, just be light on the throttle, remember to ease off and counter-steer if you slide, and lowering tire pressure a little helps. Some weight in the bed never hurts either.

I went up to Crestline 3 days after the last snow storm. CHP was checking for chains. Luckily I heard they were required and picked up a set.
Since I was 4x they let me go but there were a ton of cars and trucks pulled over chaining up.
Chains for my 295's were $125 at Trak Auto. I priced chains for my buddies 35 x 12.5" and they were $150.
