Tire / Wheel Combo Confirmation Needed Please
Sorry guys but, I will probably reinvent the wheel with this question. I've been searching and searching for the perfect answer and I'm growing very weary of searching.
Here's info about my ride:
2006 F150 FX4
Icon Vehicle Dynamics (formerly Donahoe Racing) Coil-Over's up front (i.e. ~2.5" lift to level the front end)
Icon Vehicle Dynamics (formerly Donahoe Racing) Signature Series Shocks in rear
Stock 18" wheel/tire combo
Now for my question...drum roll please:
Before providing my tire size and wheel combination I’ve decided on (I think
), I would like to offer more background info. I called Icon Vehicle Dynamics (formerly Donahoe Racing) and asked for their recommended tire/wheel combo to match their suspension package. Their response: 315/70R17 on 17”x8” wheels with 5.5” back spacing. I should also mention that I’ve decided on M/T’s vs. A/T’s and that I would like to go with a tire that is slightly smaller than max. permissible (i.e. larger than 33" but smaller than 35"...and I was thinking in the range of 12" wide). Finally, I don’t want tire/wheel that protrudes from the wheel wells very much and I would like to avoid rubbing…I guess I’m looking for the perfect size for my taste without paying boku bucks to keep buying tires until I'm happy.
All that being said and after researching for days, I think I've finally made up my mind...but I am still concerned that something wont fit.
Here's my current/final plan:
Toyo Open Country M/T – LT285/75R17
Toyo Provided Specs: Diameter 34.1 – Section Width 11.6 – Wheel Width Range 7.5 – 9.5 – Measuring Wheel Width 8.0)
Mounted on...
ATX Predator Black Teflon – 17”x8.5” with 5.34” back spacing & 15mm offset
Will this work?????
Has anyone used the tire size I'm planning on using? I've searched and searched and can't seem to find anyone who's done the same...concerns me a bit.
Thanks in advance for your help!!!

those tires are similar in dimension to a 305/65/18 (within 1/4" both ways) but that should work fine with a 5.5 backspace. i'm sure as you know, you can fit a 35x12.50 tire on stock 18 inch rim with minimal rubbing. so ideally you could go with a 305/70/17 which is approximately a 34 inch tire. if you wanted to step up to an 18 inch rim the 305/65/18 would be a perfect fit.
