Toyo M/T a rough rider?

I was talking to a guy at a local tire place where I may buy my tires. I am undecided between Toyo M/T and Cooper STT both in 295/70/17.

He said he has ran both and the Toyo was a much rougher riding tire. He said I'd have to run it at 40 - 50 psi so as not to rattle my teeth out. I was set on the Toyos before this so now I am stepping back a bit.

Any Toyo M/T users think it's too rough riding? I have been researching for many months now and this is the first complaint I have heard of it riding too rough.

Damn, just when I thought I had finally made a decision

The Cooper is significantly cheaper and lighter as well. But I love the look of the Toyo and I know it is quality....

I need some help fellas

For some reason I have some 285x70 Toyo AT's that ride rougher than my BFG's at the same psi. Maybe it's Toyo's rubber! Other than that they are great tires. You may also want to check out the Maxxis Buckshot's and Bighorn's, they come in a 305x70x17 which is close to a 34 inch tire.

the toyos are made of a HARD rubber compound so that might be why they say the toyos ride rough.

But its gonna be one of the smoothest and longest lasting MT on the market.

Im running Super Swampers and as long as they are balanced and aired down to about 30 PSI they ride great. But you can only expect 30k out of them and maybe get lucky with 35k

He said you'd have to run 40 to 50 psi to keep from rattlin' your teeth out? What air pressure does he normally run?

I've heard nothin but good things from Toyo, but I have the Cooper Discoverer STT and I think they ride great. I've had them for about 27000 miles and still have more than 50% tread. They perform great, never had any problems in mud or snow (2 feet of it).

you need to run them at around 35 PSI. Thats pretty much with any MT. My tsl's say 60 psi on the sidewall but ill fluxuate between 28psi and 30 psi.

At low speeds... starting out speeds... you can feel the Aggressive nature of the tire vibrate through the truck... however during normal driving speeds I find the MT's to be rather smooth and comfortable!

Wouldn't claim they had a rough ride though! I recommend them!

I just got mine last Saturday and I say x2 on everything here. When you're going <10mph you can feel the tread, but anything over that is incredibly smooth. Road noise is a bit louder than stock, obviously, but not at all what I expected. You can barely hear them. With the radio on, you can't hear them at all. I highly recommend them. Not to mention they look bad . I've gotten a ton of compliments on them in the last week.

I've ridden on both, the toyo's on a 250 and the STT's on my 150. The toyos did seem slightly rougher, but nothing to write home about. The are a MT, so you can only expect so much. I love both tires, but for the price difference, the STT is the only way for me. I love my tires.

I would say that I can barely feel the tread at <10mph. And rattling your teeth out??? Not even close. I feel I am very picky about the ride and noise of parts on my truck and I am very happy with the Toyos.

I have no experience with the Toyos (almost bought them for the F150 though), but I had the Cooper STT's (33x12.50s) on my ranger and sport trac and it was a great tire!

I run 65 PSI in mine and the ride is a little harsher than stock.

I just put Toyo M/T's on my truck today and IMO they are much smoother riding than my procomp's...
