Help please

Help me guys...I don't know much about tires and wheels and backspacing, so it might be kind of annoying. I drive a 2005 F150 330 gas 2 wheel drivetrain, and I really don't know that to do here lol.
I'd like to put on bigger tires and probably a leveling kit. I'm interested in the black Moto Metal 951's with a chrome center, and all terrain tires..something like a Toyo Open Country.
Again, I don't plan on doing any of the work by myself, probably will end up taking it to the shop, so will they order the parts? And what doI tell 'em? I'm a total noob, and again, I'd really appreciate everyone's help.

Thank you,
Will Sneed

I'd suggest that you install a 2.5 inch Autospring leveling kit up front and maybe a 1 inch lift block out back. I'm sure any shop can sell you a leveling kit and lift block, but some people charge outragous prices. There is no reason a leveling kit should cost over $100.
As for wheels and tires, I'd go with the 18x9 Moto Metals with 5.7 inches of backspacing and some 285/65-18 (33x11.50) Toyo AT's (since you mentioned those and they are an excellent choice). I'd check online for prices and ask your local shops to price match. Just be sure to shop around for the best prices.

So, I just walk in and say, "Hey, I need a leveling kit and would like to see some options on a bigger tire and a new set of wheels."
I've also been looking at the BFG All Terrain T/A KO's and Moto Metal 957 combo...which I think would look pretty sweet. Question is, with a 2.5" level, will the pickup have much room for a larger tire? I've got Goodyear Eagles on now and some 17" Roush wheels.

Thanks again,
Will

I think that is a pretty general statement and it may lead certain people to attempt to rip you off. Do some research here and go in knowing exactly what you want.
Also, yes a 2.5 inch levelingkit will give you a good bit more tire clearance.

Thank you for your help so far, really. I've had it pictured in my mind now what I would consider to be the perfect look for my pickup. Its a white XLT style with chrome bumpers...I was looking at BF Goodrich AllTerrains, like I mentioned, and ProComp wheels.

Now, the only other problem is the leveling kit. I live in a small town of about 8,000, there aren't any chain auto shops around. The best I can go to is either a tire/lube place or the collision repair place. SO...what would be the best choice for a 2wd leveling kit for me? I'd like to be able to show them a picture online or something, so it would be great if you could provide a link.

Thank you so much,
Will Sneed

Someone here should be able to post some pics of a leveling kit for you. Any shop that does alignments and front end work should be able to handle the installation.

So, I'd be getting, probably, a 2.5" leveling kit for the front end. Will I need blocks for the back? I've done a little shopping and found BFG Mud Terrains (305/70R16) and the ProComp steel wheels (17x9) w/ the 6on135 bolt pattern. How will this all look?

Again, thanks..
Will

You may want to lift the rear an inch. ALso, you can't fit a 16 inch tire on a 17 inch wheel. What is the backspacing on the Pro Comp wheels? Since you have a 4x2, I'd try to be a little more conservative fitting 33's. The BFG 285/70-17 is a little narrow and will give you a little more clearnce.

Sorry, I found the thing on 4WheelParts that let you build a wheel & tire package, and that size was listed as what would fit on the wheel I chose.

So, having said that, how do I get my truck to look "right"? I want the tires to not look too small around the wheel wells, and also not to look to skinny on the wheels.

Can you give me an optimum tire size for either the BFG Mud Terrain or All Terrain on the wheel I posted earlier?

Thanks for putting up with me,
Will

I'd go with a 285/70-17 (33x11.50) BFG on a 17x8 or 17x9 inch wheel with at least 5 inches of backspacing.

honestly, i would buy a 2.5" AutoSpring leveling kit, and their lift blocks for the rear. you can buy them all on ebay, and they are a VERY good product. if you are somewhat competant and have a basic set of tools, you could install them yourself. for the leveling kit, the first side might take you up to an hour, but the second side will take about 15 minutes. it is VERY simple to do. as for the back, they are also rather easy, but sometimes it gets tricky to get the blocks lined up correctly with the springs, so an extra set of hands can help. if you can get all that installed yourself, then you just have to pay for an alignment.....and if you order your wheels/tires from 4wheelparts, they will come to you all ready to install.
