Your in the same boat as me with the 2wd and lift. I perfer the size of the 305 over the 285, but everybody suggest that the 305 is to big for the 2wd height even with the lift mods. My truck in 100% Hwy driven, but I love the 4x4 look. I just didn't need the 4x4. I'm going with the 285's like everybody suggest.

Looks awesome! I am putting the same tires on my truck next month. Can't wait.

I also like the comments on the shocks. I have a level kit but the body roll really sucks with stock shocks. Might go the Bilstein route.

That is the tire and size I want when my stockers wear out. Great look! Have you noticed any performance issues? Does the gearing make a difference with this tire change on OEM wheels?

I was all set to purchase the 285's as well but seeing his truck I'm starting to think.Could
someone list pros and cons of each to help me decide.Have 18 stock BFG Rugged Trails
on 06 supercrew now and intend on getting Bilsteins prior to tires on stock rims for now.

305 upgrade

Did you have any problems putting these tires on the stock rims? I want to do the same thing but BFG lsits an 8.5 inch wide minimum wheel and my understanding is that the stockers are 7.5.
Your truck looks great.

I seen these at Sears yesterday and it changed my mind on the next tires I am going to get. I figure these will last a long time compared to a mud tire so it was good to see some pics of this tire on a similar setup.

I plan on jumping on the band wagon also and getting the BFG AT's. I too am torn between the 305/65/18 and 285/65/18. Could someone comment on how much the 305's hurt towing and acceleration performance. Also do the 305's mount on a stock 7.5 inch rim? Thanks!

Hey Guys! Its been a long time since I've posted on the board. I've been very happy with my truck and haven't really changed much in the last 4+ years.

I thought I'd give an update on the BFG AT's I had in the 305/65/18 size.

I put these tires on in December 2008 and now 4 years and 4 months later it is now time to replace them. I have gotten a little over 56,000 miles out of them with just rotations and maintaining correct air pressure. I never had any problems with them and they served me well on the road, in the dirt, and in the snow. I never really had them in any real muddy situations so no comment on mud usage.

I can't recommend these tires enough! Mine have really served me well. They were expensive but proved worth it to me.

Pros: Sizing, Aggressive Looks, Great Pavement Manners, Excellent Tread Life, Very Tough Design

Cons: Weight, Cost, MPG Decrease

As far as my suspension goes, the only issue that I have experienced was a popping sound that developed on the passenger side when I was turning. It was traced down to a bad ball joint and I had to replace the whole control arm since Ford designed it as a one piece unit. I can't say whether the 2" lift and/or the larger tires caused it though.

Anyway, I'm now searching for a set of replacement tires. I loved the 305 BFG AT's but I think I'm going to try out a different tire this time around. I'm also going to go to a smaller 275/70/18 size. Hopefully I'll get as lucky with my new tires as I did with these.

Thanks for the update! But why try another tire? Just get a smaller size in the BFG's!!

Glad to hear the BFG's served you well...I think the TA/KO's along with the Michelin LTX may be two of the best pickup truck tires ever made.
